Fall is officially here and Halloween is only 10 days away!
Chillier weather makes for a perfect time to curl up with a book—whether you’re at
home or in Langsdale’s leisure reading area. Here are some spooky book
suggestions that you can find right in the stacks on the third floor.
The Zombie Autopsies:
Secret Notebooks from the Apocalypse by Steven C. Schlozman
PS3619: A fresh approach to the zombie genre. A hand-written
and illustrated account of one scientist’s research to save himself and the
human race from zombie apocalypse.
Frankenstein by
Mary Shelley
PR5397: Classic gothic, horror fiction. Refresh yourself of the tragic path of Dr. Frankenstein and the wake of disaster left by his
Monster. (Check out the graphic novel by Jason
Cobley if you can! not available at Langsdale)
Of Bees and Mist
by Erick Setiawan
PS3619: Haunting magic, mirror dwelling ghosts, oppressive
secrets, hidden graves, wicked mother-in-law’s: a fable of one woman’s struggle
to keep her young family together while discovering truths about her own family
and her husband’s.
Mister B. Gone by
Clive Barker
PR6052: The memoir of a medieval devil, both murderous and
seductive, penned in 1438.
Edgar Allan Poe:
stories & poems by Edgar Allan Poe, illustrated by David Plunkert

classic Halloween than Frankenstein is Poe’s entire body of work. Add to that
haunting illustrations and we have a dark, mystical journey.
