International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

Did you know that October 9 is the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples?  Celebrated each year, this date marks the first meeting, in 1982, of the United Nations Working Group on Indigenous Populations of the Subcommission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights.
